SNOWBUSTERS FAQs:
Where do they meet?
The students will all meet in the Cafeteria after school. They will check in with one of the volunteers and wait for the bus to arrive.
Ski/Snowboard Equipment?
Students can use their own gear or rent at Hyland Hills via Snowbusters. All gear will need to be dropped off by 2 PM each day. There will be bins to place skis and boards in outside of Cassidy Hall. If dropping off gear during carpool, you must park and bring inside. Any bags will need to be brought on the bus to Hyland Hills by the students
Billing?
All billing is done via TADS. Your child will not need any money to pay for anything other than what they want to purchase for themselves at the chalet (think snacks, drinks, food). TADS accounts are billed at the end of the season.
Can my child use their Hyland Hills Season Pass or 4th Grade MN Ski Passport for lift tickets?
Yes, they can. However, they will be responsible to go to the ticket window and get their own lift ticket. Any lift tickets given out via Snowbusters will be charged to the student’s account. If you have a 4th grade passport, please let the organizers know!
Can I use any free lift ticket or rental equipment passes I have at home?
Yes, BUT you must let Beth/Katie know in advance so that we can ensure your child is able to properly use them.
Are there chaperones?
Yes! This program couldn't exist without our wonderful parent/guardian volunteers (see the SignUp Genius to register as a volunteer). However, Hyland Hills is a busy public place and students are on their own much of the time…when not in lessons.
Lessons?
Lessons are optional. They begin promptly at 5:00pm and end at 6:30pm. There is a 5-person minimum per discipline for lessons. If you sign up for lessons, they are non-refundable unless Hyland Hills cancels due to weather or insufficient registration numbers.
I won’t be there and I’m worried about my child skiing for the first time. How do I make sure they’re ok?
We’ll have several OLG parents helping out at check-in! Feel free to give Beth/Katie a heads up and we can have one of the parents make sure they get their equipment on correctly and to their lesson on time.
Where/How do I pick up my child after Snowbusters?
Your child can be picked up at the Hyland Chalet area. You will have to grant permission on your registration for your child to be able to leave without checking in with an OLG Volunteer.
If you don’t grant this permission, you will have to park and physically come check out your child by 6:30pm. Lift tickets are valid for the entire evening so students can continue skiing/snowboarding after Snowbusters with PARENT/GUARDIAN supervision.
My child doesn’t have a phone or smartwatch…how will they know it’s pick up time?
Hyland has a huge digital clock at the top of the main chalet windows. It can be seen both inside & outside. Make sure to tell your child to look for it.
