Recognized for Excellence
OLG is a National Blue Ribbon School, having received the award from the U.S. Department of Education in 2009 and 2001, and is one of fewer than 15 schools in Minnesota which have received multiple Blue Ribbons since the program began in 1982. OLG also is fully accredited by the Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association.
There are 40 members on our professional staff, 90% of whom have a master’s or other graduate degree or have studied beyond the bachelor’s level. Additionally, we employ 10 teaching assistants, most of whom are licensed teachers.
Our One-to-One Learning program for Middle School is award-winning. Our teachers creatively use technology resources to increase the educational opportunities for all our students.
Wednesdays we celebrate Mass together as a school community each week with a student-led liturgy. At these liturgies, 8th grade students sit with their kindergarten prayer buddies as a beautiful reminder of their responsibility to be excellent role models for our younger students. Many of our 8th grade students also choose to become Peer Ministers for our community, yet another way in which both their spirituality and their leadership skills are cultivated.
OLG is a charter member of the South Side Youth Organization, in which the OLG Saints teams participate in volleyball (4th-8th grade girls), soccer (5th-8th grade), basketball (5th-8th grade), baseball (5th-8th grade boys), and softball (5th-8th grade girls).
