Summer Learning

Reading - Choose a few chapter books that look good. Maybe you want to choose a series like Geronimo, Boxcar Children, A to Z Mysteries, or some Caldecott medal winners. Decide with mom and dad if you should finish it in one week, or two. When you finish, chose a book report from the webpage.

Math – In third grade you start taking multiplication tests right away. Practice those facts this summer! To work on fractions and measurement, cook in the kitchen!

Science – Use the “foss” webpage to get a sneak peak at 3rd grade science. Play some of the games to become familiar. Take a nature hike and collect some interesting leaves, bark, flowers, rocks and other things in nature. Keep a nature box, or create art using nature. Investigate another insect or animal life cycle and fill in the worksheet. Use the cluster map to categorize something science related.

Social Studies – Become a master on the states and find world maps to color.

State Fun!

Spanish – Senora Temple has TONS of fun games on her webpage. Make a food menu and label the foods in Spanish. Make a map of your house and label rooms and items in Spanish.

Religion – We read the children’s Bible this year. There are more children’s Bibles that are harder, and you are ready for those. Check Barnes and Noble for a new Bible.
