1. Many people throughout the United States and the world speak Spanish. It is the second most spoken language in the United States and the third most popular language in the world. If you have the ability to speak Spanish, you will be able to communicate with a larger percentage of the population.

2. Since so many countries and people speak Spanish, your ability to hablar español will allow you to TRAVEL with greater ease. Your trips abroad or family vacations to Mexico will go smoother and be more fun!

3. Many languages have Latin origins, including both Spanish and English. Therefore, as we study Spanish, you may expand your English vocabulary through the study of cognates.

4. Learning another language can help us learn how people of another culture learn and think. There are great works of literature, music, art and film from plenty of other cultures that you could more fully appreciate if you know Spanish. Therefore, knowing Spanish allows you greater cultural understanding!

5. Finally, your ability to speak, read and write Spanish, will possibly lead you to greater job opportunities a long ways down the line. With so many people speaking Spanish throughout the United States and the world, it is important for companies and organizations to hire individuals who can communicate with a larger population. That could be you someday!

So those are a few of my reasons...why do you want to learn Spanish?
