Sure it's tough in the beginning, but it gets easier. Before you know it you'll be a keyboarding champ. How do you get there? Practice.

We begin the year by practicing our keyboarding skills.
By the time Autumn gets here
we will have fallen into good keyboarding habits.

So, how do you ever become good at keyboarding?

Special Keyboarding Tips

Have you seen this little squiggly mark ~ ?
What's it called?          How do you type it?

Hilda Tilde. Can you locate the key on the keyboard used to type a tilde?

This old gal is helping us remember what the real name for
"that squiggly thing"  is.

Its name is tildé.  It rhymes with Hilda.
No more "squiggly thing" for us.

It's on your keyboard just to the left of the number 1 key.
Sometimes we have to type it in to go to a web site.

Use the numeric keypad on your keyboard
to type these characters and symbols:

Hold down the Alt key and type... to make this.
248 90° (degree symbol)
246 4÷2 (division symbol)
155 25¢ (cent sign)
253 4² (exponent of 2)
160 á
130 é
161 í
162 ó
163 ú
164 ñ
129 ü
Num Lock must be on.

Another way to type symbols in Word is by clicking
Insert (found in the menu bar) then Symbol.

© ¾ ¢ ñ  and others

Math Tip: in Word type other exponents by holding down the Ctrl, Shift, and + keys, release,
then type the number key (not using numeric keypad). Remove the feature by again pressing Ctrl, Shift, and +
Example:
43

Another method is to click Format, Font in the Menu Bar. Choose "Superscript"
when typing or after highlighting the number.
