Math
Fourth grade continues with the Everyday Mathematics curriculum used in prior grades. Students will use a daily math journal in class. Homework consists of one Math Box and one Study Link for each section covered in class. Math Boxes are graded for accuracy and Study Links are graded based on completion. Topics covered this year are:

Multiplication with two an three digit numbers

Adding and Subtracting Fractions and Decimals

Language Arts
The fourth graders will be working with the Houghton Mifflin Language Arts Series, which is all encompasing. They will read stories at their individual level, learn strategic reading, take weekly skills tests on spelling, grammar and vocabulary and have writers workshops. Social Studies
The fourth graders will spend the school year studying the United States, region by region. They will learn about the Social Scientists: Geographer, Economist, Historian and Politician. They will be expected to recognize the main geographic features of each region, including each state and its capital.

Science
This year will revolve around four main topics in Science: Magnets and Electricity, The Human Body, Rocks and Minerals and Life Science. We will be using resources from the Foss Science Curriculum and Scott Foresman Science.
Religion
We will spend most of the year covering the Ten Commandments. We will read about them and then discuss how each relates to the life of a fourth grader. Each Wednesday we will attend mass together and every Friday we will read Venture Magazine and talk about the weekend gospel.
