Welcome to 8th Grade Literature!
Syllabus
Vocabulary-
Students will complete one unit of vocabulary every two weeks. The students will be learning the words' meanings, spellings, parts of speech, and how to use them in their own writing. Spelling and vocabulary assessments will be administered at the end of the two week period following in class activities and homework assignments.
Current Vocabulary Unit: Unit 11
Vocabulary Test (for 8-1/8-2 Respectively): Thursday, May 6th/ Friday, May 7th
Literature- The 8th grade is now reading Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, one of the quintessential American classics.hile reading this wonderful novel the students will study the plot, characters and characterization, themes, symbols, dialect, as well as how this story is a coming of age novel, and how it fits into the sub-genre of the picaresque novel. Huck is a witty, cunning, and adventurous rogue, and he has a lot to teach students about morals during this episodic book.
Huck Finn Project (Due Thursday, May 6th/Friday, May 7th for 8-1/8-2, respectively) and Grading Criteria
