In order to foster a response to our Baptismal call, Our Lady of Grace Catholic School students/families are presented with opportunities to serve others.
Below is a calendar of the social justice efforts that will take place throughout the 2012-2013 school year. Direction for the service projects is drawn from the Principles of Catholic Social Justice Teachings, click here to view these principles.
The social justice calendar is based on service projects that support our parish initiatives and our grade level curriculum. Some of these initiatives are school-wide projects; others are initiatives by grade level. Grade level projects most often are connected to curriculum being taught in the classroom during that quarter and allow the students to put into action an aspect of the curriculum they are learning. Each year these events will be reviewed. We encourage those who wish to submit ideas for service projects to do so by March 31, 2013, for consideration in the 2013-2014 school year.
We hope our efforts throughout the year will instill in our students/families the Catholic philosophy of giving of one’s time, treasure and talent in thanksgiving for the gifts God has given to us. As written in Luke 12:48 …”Everyone to whom much is given, of him will much be required…”
